Bomb blast at Sithani rockfort express escapes mangalore express crosses the incident site
Our Mangalore express is held up at Mundiyambakkam on the day of the bomb blast in Sithani. Somebody cries “bomb blast” “bomb blast” and the sound stops our deep sleep. When we come out we see that it is a very small station without any facilities and when the sunlight comes we realize that we are in the last platform and only crows are crying. In the early morning relatives of various places cellphoned the passengers after hearing the news in Sun News that some bomb blast has occured at Perani and the Rockfort Express has an miraculous escape. Nagore Express is standing in the next track. It will take some four or five hours to repair the tracks and to resume the services somebody informs. Rockfort express returns to our station in the morning. All other trains are held up at Villupuram and other places, news comes. Some people walk in the paddy field to catch the buses which are coming in the highway one kilometer from here. People with old people or with heavy luggages are waiting in the platform and in train patiently, only a hundred will be there. Rockfort starts at 9.00 a.m and ours at 9.30 am and we reach Chennai at 12.30 p.m. We directly go to the T.V room to see the sun news to know what has happened. We must be thankful to Salem express Guard Rajasekaran,Rockfort driver Gobinath,assistant driver Rajkumar, Mundiyambakkam station master Thurka Ram, and ofcourse to Sun Tv for giving out the news to us in the middle of the unknown place. We must also be thankful to the officials of police,revenue,collectorate and railway who have visited the place within an hour and repair the track and resume the train services within six hours. But as the train stops at Tambaram and Chengleput for one minute only(as it is late by six hours already) we cannot have any food at all and when we enter the chennai we are in hungry but we are happy as we have escaped from a major disaster.
